Because of our trusted Google Partner status at V Digital Services, our Paid Media Team was recently invited to Google’s fourth annual Performance Summit (GPS) in San Francisco. We were introduced to major AdWords product announcements for the coming year and, after a few days of digesting the knowledge and insights, we were able to focus on and highlight four important takeaways that will allow our clients to improve their performance with AdWords.
Expanded Text Ads
Every AdWords user’s dream is finally becoming reality – search Ads are getting bigger! The ads will go from a 25-character headline to using two 30-character headlines. Text ads will also go from two 35-character descriptions to an 80-character description.
Not only is Google increasing the character count, they are having the Display URL pulled automatically from the domain you link to, while having the flexibility of editing two 15-character “paths.” This allows you to tailor your business’ true voice and message, and we no longer have to create those awkward text ads that would make your former English teachers cringe and spit out the coffee they just drank.
Device Bid Adjustments
Google’s commitment to help advertisers enhance their mobile strategies keeps growing stronger everyday and they are emphasizing this by adding the “Device Bid Adjustments” feature. We will be able to use mobile, desktop and tablets independently. Now, we are able to create and segment campaigns by devices, which will allow us the flexibility to optimize and allocate budget based on performance on each device. The feature will also allow the bids to be adjusted from -100% to 900%.
Similar Audiences for Search
The Similar Audience feature is finally coming to the Search Network! Previously, only Display and Facebook had this feature. With it, we now are able to expand Remarketing strategies by adding the Similar Audiences for Search Ads. With this new feature we will be able to reach highly-qualified, new traffic.
Shopping Ads on Image Search
As Google keeps pushing the use of Shopping Ads, they are now eligible to appear on image searches on all devices! This should mean increase in the reach and visibility of Shopping Campaigns. For example, visual products such as apparel should greatly benefit from this feature.
V Digital Services
At V Digital Services, our Paid Media Team is very excited about these upcoming features and we are already implementing them into strategies for our clients. Since most features are still in the “Beta” stage, which requires non-disclosure agreements, our team has already reached out to Google and requested access to all the features available for all of our existing clients.
If you are not yet a V Digital Services client, please contact us for more information on how our Paid Media Team can help you master Google AdWords and increase your business’ brand online.
